University does not initiate expulsions during a student’s illness, vacation period, academic leave, academic leave for reasons of pregnancy and childbirth or parental leave.
Expulsion is always done upon negotiation with the university’s Strategic Initiatives Support Department and the Student Council.
More information on expulsion can be found in the Regulations on student expulsion (in Russian).
You can read more on interim exams and repeat interim exams here.
Preparation of expulsion documents
After repeat interim exams, the Student Services Office draws up lists of students to be expelled and informs these students via email. Within 14 days after receiving the email, you can provide a written explanation of why you failed to successfully complete your courses and fulfil the study plan. An admissible excuse, such as an illness, will make it possible to extend the period of your repeat interim exams. If you don’t have a good reason for failing to complete the program, however, you will be expelled within a 14-day period.
The expulsion
You can receive your certificate of prior education and certificate of study period at the Student Services Office after you have filled out your exit checklist (My ISU => Education => Exit checklist). You will need to have your student ID card with you during this visit to hand it in at the Office. You will also have to move out of your dorm within a three-day period.
Within two weeks after your leave has ended, you can file an application to extend your leave or return to studies on your personal ISU page (more on that in the Academic leave section). If neither application is filed, the student will be expelled.
Preparation of expulsion documents
After the two-week period is ended, the Student Services Office creates a draft order of expulsion and informs students to be expelled via email.

To extend the period during which you can provide your payment, you need to file a request at the Student Services Office. Then the decision is up to the rector.
Preparation of expulsion documents
The Student Services Office forms the draft of the order of expulsion within five days after your last payment was due (or after the extended period to provide it has ended), informing the student about it via email. The contract for paid educational services will be terminated in a one-way fashion based on the order of expulsion.
